S.W.A.T. viewers get to see Shemar Moore every Friday as his character, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, takes down some of Los Angeles’ worst criminals but those watching The Young and the Restless aren’t so lucky. Though we’ve seen him turn up in Genoa City a few times over the years, many would love to see him back on their daytime screens for good — or at least on a more recurring basis. But would Moore be up for that?
The former CBS soap actor recently sat down with First for Women magazine and revealed whether or not he’d be interested in another daytime comeback…
We last saw the star in May of 2023 during the soap’s 50th anniversary celebration when Malcolm surprised everyone by turning up at Jazz Club to honor his brother Neil. “I definitely did it for my dear brother,” Moore shared. “May he rest in peace.” He went on to talk about how much support Kristoff St. John had given him throughout the years and stated, “He rooted for me to grow, and when I left The Young and the Restless, he told me I could make it.
Since leaving the role he created in 1994, Moore has added over 35 credits to his resume and admitted, “In 30 years, the longest I’ve gone unemployed is four months — at whatever level, I stayed in the game, hustling.”
So, would he hustle his way back to Genoa City if the show called him?
“If The Young and the Restless called me today, I would go,” Moore revealed and also said he’d do the same if Criminal Minds asked him to come back. “Because you never forget where you came from,” he added. “It sounds cliché and maybe cheesy, but it’s also true.”
And we’d love to have him back in any capacity!
