Y&R’s Eric Braeden Shares a Health Update
This Thanksgiving, The Young & The Restless star Eric Braeden has plenty to be grateful for. In addition to the usual family, friends, job, and the like, the actor is celebrating good health!
“My last cystoscopy today showed I’m still cancer-free!” Braeden shared on the new social media platform Bluesky the day before the holiday. “So a lot to be thankful for! To distract from the procedure, I quoted Shakespeare: “Now is the winter of our discontent…” The urologist said it was the first time he ever heard Shakespeare during a procedure!”
Braeden — who has been starring on Y&R as Victor Newman since 1980 — originally shared the news of his cancer diagnosis back in April 2023. He explained at the time that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer and was undergoing treatment. By August, he reported that while he still had some remaining treatments, his most recent scan showed no more cancer in his bladder. He also shared a video clip of himself hugging a punching bag at the gym on Instagram to show he’s still very physically active.
A cystoscopy is a procedure where a doctor examines the lining of the bladder and urethra with a tiny camera, and it’s no surprise that Braeden’s urologist has never heard anyone reciting Shakespeare during it before! Thankfully, this most recent cystoscopy returned the same results as the one last year, and the Emmy winner remains cancer-free.
Please join us in wishing him continued health and happiness!
