“CBS Legend Passes Away at 31-Young & The Restless Adam Teases Another Tragic Loss!”

CBS Star’s Heartbreaking Loss: ‘Young & The Restless’ Actor Opens Up About Tragic Family Tragedy

Hollywood was rocked this week as The Young and the Restless star Mark Grossman, known for his role as Adam Newman, revealed a deeply personal and devastating chapter of his life. In a candid interview on State of Mind with General Hospital legend Maurice Benard, Grossman shared the heartbreaking story of his younger brother’s struggle with mental illness and his tragic passing at just 17 years old.

A Secret Pain Finally Revealed

For years, fans have admired Mark Grossman’s powerful performances on-screen, but few knew about the immense grief he has carried behind the scenes. The actor opened up about his younger brother, who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia just three months before his death on January 1, 2007.

“I had a younger brother who passed,” Grossman revealed, his voice heavy with emotion. “He was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. It was something that took years to develop, and we didn’t understand what was happening at the time.”

A Slow Descent Into Darkness

Grossman recalled how his brother’s condition worsened over two to three years, but at the time, no one in the family fully grasped the severity of his struggles. “I probably thought, ‘Oh, my brother’s just going through a phase,’” he admitted.

The warning signs became clearer as his brother started withdrawing from friends, refusing to go out in public, and isolating himself from the world. “He put on weight, started wearing all black, showered in the dark, and just stopped engaging with anyone,” Grossman explained. “It got so bad that he was walking around the house with a bat—he was terrified.”

A Family’s Desperate Fight

As the situation worsened, his parents tried everything they could to support their son, but they were unaware of the full extent of his pain. “They did what parents do,” Grossman said. “They loved their kid. But looking back, he was in so much pain, and I just didn’t comprehend it at 19 years old.”

Despite finally receiving a diagnosis, it was too late. Grossman’s brother tragically passed away, leaving behind a family haunted by the what-ifs and the heartbreaking reality of untreated mental illness.

A Message of Awareness and Hope

The actor’s raw and emotional interview serves as a stark reminder of the silent battles so many face. Mental health struggles remain a critical issue, often undetected until it’s too late. Grossman hopes that by sharing his story, he can help others recognize the signs and seek help before it’s too late.

For those who may be struggling or know someone who is, Grossman urges people to seek professional guidance and never underestimate the weight of mental illness.

“You never know what someone is going through,” he said. “Don’t wait until it’s too late.”
