Days of Our Lives

This is how Leo’s nightmare of body and soul parodies the days of our lives

Here’s How Leo’s Body & Soul Nightmare Parodied Days of Our Lives

DAYS went trick or treating for Easter eggs this Halloween.

Days of our Lives always gets extra spooky and scary for Halloween, and this year, the soap not only created a murder mystery, but called out several of their famous past storylines.

Nightmare On Pineview

On Halloween night, Leo (Greg Rikaart) fell asleep while writing a new script for Body & Soul and wound up having quite the nightmare. He dreamed about the B&S characters who found themselves stuck in a murder mystery after Regan (AlexAnn Hopkins) showed up in Pineview claiming to be married to Arrow (Robert Scott Wilson). Once Faith (Raven Bowens) went home, she was killed by a masked murderer and found by Arrow, this starting Pineview’s murder mystery.

As Detective John Hotson (Carson Boatman) and Commissioner Marshall (James Reynolds) set out on the case, several more murders happened until Arrow woke up on an island called Weivenip (Pineview spelled backward) surrounded by his supposedly dead friends from Pineview. That was when Leo walked in and revealed he wrote their stories before the murderer showed up and revealed themselves to be Marlena (Deidre Hall).

Easter Eggs On Halloween

The nightmare made several references to past DAYS’ storylines, starting with when Hotson and Marshall found Arrow hovering over Faith’s dead body and Hotson recognized him as the Necktie Killer. Arrow remarked that was the wrong storyline, but the real joke comes in when you remember that Arrow’s portrayer also played Ben, aka the Necktie Killer, on DAYS from 2014-2023.

Later in the nightmare, Arrow found out that Dr. Blake Lamoray (Bruce Beatty) was hired to bring Charlamagne (Deidre Hall) back to life, something that DAYS has done several times thanks to Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) and his serums. Another reference came when Reynolds played Pineview’s police commissioner, since his DAYS character Abe used to be the police commissioner.

But the best call-out to storylines past was the way all the characters were “killed” by a masked Marlena and brought to an island, directly mimicking the famous DAYS moment in 2003 when the Salem Stalker “murdered” half of Salem, brought them to an island called Melaswen (New Salem spelled backward), and revealed themselves to be Marlena.
