Jason Thompson’s Painful Birthday Surprise: A Soccer Injury Leaves ‘The Young and the Restless’ Star Bruised but Unstoppable

Birthdays are often a time for celebration, but for The Young and the Restless star Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), this year’s festivities came with a literal bruise. The actor, who turned a year older last Friday, found himself nursing a massive injury the very next day—an unexpected reminder that time spares no one.

Taking to Instagram, Thompson shared the story behind his dramatic injury, which occurred during a game of adult league soccer. The actor explained that 15 minutes into his warm-up session, while taking shots on the goalie, things went south.

“Pop. Felt it, heard it. Really, really uncomfortable,” Thompson described in a video, lifting his shorts to reveal a huge purple bruise that covered his left thigh. “I got the perfect birthday present—a reminder that I’m getting a little long in the tooth,” he quipped.

Despite the discomfort, Thompson remained in good spirits, even joking about his predicament. “Dr. Lock, I’m coming to see you,” he added, hinting at a visit to his doctor. Fans and fellow cast members were quick to react, flooding his Instagram comments with support and playful remarks.

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) expressed surprise, saying, “And you let me complain about my shoulder today?” Meanwhile, Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalotti) tried to lighten the mood, joking, “BTF… they gonna have to amputate?”

The actor’s supporters were relieved to hear that the injury wasn’t more serious, even though the bruise was significant. “We’re glad it’s just a bruise—a big one at that—and hope Jason feels better soon,” one fan commented.

As Thompson continues to recover, fans of The Young and the Restless are wishing him a speedy return to full health, both on the soccer field and on their screens. For now, he seems to be taking it all in stride, proving that even in moments of pain, his humor and resilience remain intact.

Here’s to a quick recovery, Jason!
