Lyndon Ashby’s Wipeout: Surfboard Drama, Broken Nose, and a Wave of Laughs!
Lyndon Ashby’s Surfing Mishap: “Fought the Board, and the Board Won!”
If you didn’t know, The Young and the Restless star Lyndon Ashby has a deep love for the ocean. Whether it’s hitting the waves or simply enjoying the water’s serenity, Ashby always seems to find his happy place near the shore. But recently, his passion for surfing came with a painful twist. Let’s just say, this time, the ocean wasn’t exactly on his side.
The beloved actor, who played the unforgettable Cameron Kirsten on The Young and the Restless, shared his surfing mishap on Instagram, much to the concern—and amusement—of his fans. Posing in a hospital room with a battered face, Ashby captioned his photo: “Fought the board, and the board won.” What happened? Let’s break it down.
Ashby was paddling out on his surfboard, trying to catch some small waves near the shore. It was supposed to be a laid-back morning, just him and the sea. But instead of riding a wave like a pro, the actor got completely wiped out. His face slammed into the deck of his surfboard, leaving him with a broken nose and plenty of bruises.
Despite the painful experience, Ashby’s humor remained intact. “Geez, I just wanted to catch a few waves this morning,” he joked in the post. His former Y&R co-star, Christian LeBlanc, couldn’t resist chiming in, commenting: “Good God, the humanity!” Clearly, instead of catching waves, Ashby ended up catching a hospital visit—and some laughs from his fans.
This isn’t the first time Ashby has made waves, figuratively speaking. Fans of The Young and the Restless will remember his iconic role as Cameron Kirsten, one of the show’s most memorable villains. Cameron made a jaw-dropping return in 2023 after a 20-year hiatus, only to meet his dramatic end when Sharon stabbed him to death.
Or so we thought.
In a classic soap opera twist, Cameron made another appearance in 2024—not as himself, but as a figment of Sharon’s imagination. This psychological storyline had fans on the edge of their seats, as Sharon battled her own mind to free herself from his torment. The storyline wrapped up with Sharon kicking her meds (and Cameron) to the curb, but it left viewers with a bittersweet feeling. Lyndon Ashby’s portrayal of Cameron Kirsten was simply unforgettable.
Even now, fans are holding out hope for another classic soap opera twist. Could Cameron have a long-lost twin who’s ready to take over Genoa City? Imagine the drama if this twin returned to reclaim Cassidy Technology—now owned by Sharon—and stirred up some romance with Diane, played by Ashby’s real-life wife, Susan Walters. The potential for on-screen sparks is undeniable.
For now, though, Ashby seems to be sticking to real-life adventures—and the occasional mishap. His surfing accident might have left him bruised, but it’s clear that his spirit is unshaken.
