Joshua Morrow celebrated 30 years on The Young and the Restless. That’s a long time for a soap actor. As fans already know, characters can be killed off or recast in a snap. Morrow shared his thoughts about Nick Newman’s future in Genoa City.

Celebrating 13,000 Episodes

Y&R’s 13,000th episode is approaching quickly. Morrow spoke to Us Weekly about the show’s milestone. The actor doesn’t believe Nick Newman will leave town anytime soon. Morrow first took on the role in 1994 and has been part of the show since.

Various actors played the iconic role before then. Morrow loves being part of the show and admitted that he’s “overly confident” about Nick’s legacy.

“There will always be a Nick Newman, whether it’s me playing him or not,” Morrow explained. “[That] is up to me and the show, but Nick will always be around.”

Morrow isn’t concerned about losing his job. But he doesn’t want to sound like he’s being cocky or arrogant. He doesn’t believe that Nick’s character has anything to do with him.

“I don’t want to come across that way, but, you know, the Newman family is very important,” he explained.

Nick Newman Is Here to Stay

The actor shifted the conversation to the show’s longtime fans, saying he’s “proud” to be a part of them. In February, CBS renewed Y&R for four more seasons, extending the show into the 2028 television season.

While Morrow is grateful for his job, he admits that it can be “stressful” at times. The cast has to film things “in one take.” They have hundreds of lines to study before then.

Morrow feels connected to Nick Newman. He has put more of his personality into the character over the years. “I make up the rest, meaning I’m just, sort of, interjecting my own personality in it because nobody knows Nick as well as I do,” he added.
