We started off the year with the news that Days of Our Lives was hitting us with a double Rachel recast. No, they weren’t swapping Brady and Kristen’s daughter out twice, but we learned that actress Rachel Boyd was taking over as teen Sophia, and Alice Halsey would be stepping into Rachel Black’s shoes, taking over for Finley Rose Slater.

Boyd, of course, started back in February and now it’s Halsey’s turn to step into the spotlight! The 10-year-old is making her daytime debut on Thursday, April 24th — which also happens to be the new writing team’s first episode. Plus, it’s the second day of the big hospital fundraiser, which had to have added a whole new level of fun to the taping.

Days of Our Lives is introducing Halsey ahead of her official first day with a mini interview over on their official Instagram account. The young, but already experienced actress introduces herself and shares that she started auditioning at three — yes, you read that right! — and started acting in earnest just a couple years later.

“I love to draw,” she goes on to share. “I love to read. I also love taking walks. ” Plus there’s jump roping and just about anything physical you can imagine. It’s not all fun and games, though, as Halsey puts in a ton of work to bring Rachel to our screens. Actually, that sounds like it’s pretty fun, too!

“I did not know a lot about my character before I entered the show,” Halsey admits, “but already it’s been super duper fun and I’m having such a great time. It is a lot of work, but we prep a lot, and practicing it always, always will help.”

And while the show asked the fans to give her a warm welcome, Halsey’s Days of Our Lives family took the opportunity to very much do the same! They’ve been working with her for months, thanks to the show’s advanced shooting schedule, and the love was very real!

“That’s my girl,” Boyd exclaimed. “Mini Rachel!” And Halsey had to agree, replying, “Rachels unite!” We’re not entirely sure what would prompt Sophia teaming up with Tate’s little sis, but we do know it would be guaranteed to cause loads of trouble for everyone involved! And we’d totally be here for it.

Halsey’s on-screen dad is clearly just as proud as any parent would be, with Eric Martsolf commenting, “So sweet, she gives me a cavity every day!” And Uncle EJ, Dan Feuerriegel just referred to the young actress as a “Future Oscar winner right there.”
