Days of Our Lives Wednesday, January 22 Recap: Alex Targeted as Next Victim – Kayla Emergency Recast for Bonnie
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 22, reveals that Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) had a nightmare involving Kerry Yeomans (Derek Yates), who barged in the bedroom with a gun. Dream Kerry insisted that if he couldn’t have Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon), no one could.
After a shot was fired, Leo woke up and got some comfort from Javi, who assured him that Kerry wasn’t going to cause any more drama.
Once Leo sought confirmation that what was happening between them was real, Javi insisted it was.
Next on Wednesday’s Days episode, Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) had an officer escort Kerry to the station for questioning.
Kerry was seemingly wearing the same gloves, hat and coat as the person who wrote an X on Bonnie Kiriakis’ (Judi Evans) photo.
However, Kerry insisted he had no reason to harm Bonnie and refused to take the blame for the poisoned cupcakes either.
Kerry argued that his beef was solely with Leo and gloated over Jada not having enough proof to charge him with breaking in Leo’s hotel room.
Back at the Hernandez house on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Kerry returned his key to Javi and asked for his sweatshirt back.
Before Kerry left, he dropped a hint about Bonnie’s ordeal and left Leo puzzled.
Once Leo looked up the news story online, he was horrified over Bonnie’s fall and felt sorry for her.
Leo also worried about the story that he’d been cooking up for Bonnie since she’d be out of commission for a while.
At the hospital, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) visited Kayla Johnson’s (Mary Beth Evans) office and pitched her on being Bonnie’s temporary replacement.
Kayla balked at first, but Abe ultimately convinced her to fill in until they could find another Kassandra recast.
At the pub on Wednesday’s Days episode, Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) talked to Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) about her new romance with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) and praised him for being the one person who’d treated her right in Salem.
Joy also heard about Bonnie’s elevator shaft fall, so she headed to the hospital to visit her and support Alex.
Meanwhile, Alex was already at the hospital with Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein), who admitted the only reason she got back together with Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) before their breakup was because of Alex.
That led to Stephanie admitting she wasn’t ready to end things when they were forced apart over their work situation.
Alex admitted he wasn’t ready to end things either – and though he eventually slept with Joy, he only did it because he thought Stephanie was moving on with Philip.
Although Alex was spending more time with Joy, he pointed out that they weren’t an official couple or anything.
Stephanie and Alex missed each other, so she pitched the idea of her ditching her Body & Soul publicist job.
Alex didn’t like the sacrifice Stephanie would be making, but Stephanie was OK with it since it would allow for a romantic reunion.
Alex worried about rushing into something and regretting it if this didn’t work out.
Nevertheless, Stephanie pushed Alex to consider the possibility that their romance could indeed work.
While Stephanie and Alex were debating all this, Joy interrupted with some comforting words and a hug for Alex over Bonnie’s ordeal.
Since Joy wanted to visit Bonnie and give her flowers, she asked Alex to show her to Bonnie’s room.
After that visit, Joy spoke in the waiting area about Alex and Bonnie being the only people she could tolerate on set.
Now it was just Alex, so he seemed uncomfortable over Joy being so grateful for their bond.
Once Kayla met up with Stephanie, she surprised her daughter with updates on her decision to be a temporary Kassandra recast.
Kayla was willing to help since Abe was in a bind and expressed excitement to work with Stephanie on Body & Soul.
Stephanie awkwardly agreed despite her earlier plan to quit, so she may stay on board as the show’s publicist a bit longer.
Elsewhere, the person who put an X on Bonnie’s photo put it on a board and turned their attention to Alex’s picture next.
Since Days didn’t show the face of the coat-and-glove-wearing culprit, there’s a good chance Kerry’s earlier outfit was a fake-out.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say this mystery is still in play, so stick with us for more predictions on the danger ahead for Alex.
