Days of Our Lives Recap: Friday, May 17 Holly’s Cruelty Leads to Nicole’s Drunken Mistake, EJ Gets Fired

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, May 17, reveals that Nicole DiMera (Arianne Zucker) tried to convince Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) to patch things up and spend time with her, but Holly wasn’t interested.

Holly went on a rant about pushing herself at school so she could have a life better than the one Nicole had lived.

Plus, Holly had always tried to stay out of trouble and avoid being the reason another man walked out on their family.

Nicole hated that Holly felt that way and only wanted her to live a happy, safe life, so Holly pushed for some trust and a chance to attend prom.

When Nicole stood her ground on not letting Holly go, Holly lashed out and said the babies Nicole lost were lucky since they didn’t have to deal with having her for a mom.

Holly insisted motherhood wasn’t Nicole’s thing and rejected her hug, so Nicole left her room in tears.

Next on Friday’s Days episode, Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) stopped by the townhouse, where Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) admired Jude Brady in his stroller.

After Marlena suggested Jude had Eric’s smile, John agreed with her. Marlena assumed Jude was picking up Eric’s mannerisms since a lot of adopted kids did that.

Eric offered news on his working arrangement with Nicole before heading off to meet with her.

When Nicole was a no-show in the town square, Eric called her phone and realized she sounded drunk.

Nicole admitted she was at Small Bar, so Eric came to her rescue and took her home.

After another failed attempt to get EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) to reopen Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) case, Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) took his concerns to Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) and let her see the new evidence.

On Friday’s Days episode, Stefan argued that EJ was abusing his power and letting a grudge get in the way of justice.

After Stefan revealed that EJ planned to make his DiMera Enterprises CEO job permanent while continuing in the DA role, Paulina said the bylaws wouldn’t allow that.

Once Paulina summoned EJ to her office, she scolded him for everything and fired him on the spot.

EJ stormed in the DiMera mansion to pour himself a drink soon after and looked furious.

After EJ stepped into the foyer on Friday’s DOOL show, he found Nicole planting a drunken kiss on Eric for being her knight in shining armor.

While EJ fumed over that discovery, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) confronted Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) about the black book and assumed she knew more about Clyde Weston (James Read) than she’d been letting on.

That conversation brought Ava’s admission that while Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) wanted to lock Clyde back up, she was looking for a more permanent – and obviously fatal – solution to their problem.

Stefan showed up to trade info with Ava and seemed downright gleeful since he assumed EJ was probably getting fired right now.

Steve paid John a visit as well, so they discussed Ava, the black book, Clyde and the possibility that they’d face consequences for helping him escape.

At the hospital on Friday’s Days episode, Holly stopped by Marlena’s office and said she was a terrible person for saying awful things she didn’t really mean to her mom.

Once Holly offered updates on her hurtful conversation with Nicole, Marlena suggested maybe Holly could write an apology letter while she was feeling rational.

Marlena also offered a prediction that Nicole and Holly would work things out since it was important to them both.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Holly and Nicole will have to figure out a path forward, so stay tuned.
