A major star is leaving and superspy is returning to Days of our Lives.

A major leading man is leaving Days of our Lives, while a popular one from yesteryear is resurfacing this week. Here’s the soap’s latest comings and goings casting news. Find out who’s returning, who’s exiting, and if any newcomers are joining the Peacock show this week or in the near future in contract, recurring, or day-player roles.

The Week of March 17, 2025

In a stunning casting move Billy Flynn has announced that he’s leaving DAYS  and his popular role of Chad DiMera. The actor, who’s portrayed the late Stefano’s youngest son since 2014, has been cast in a new role on The Young and the Restless and will begin airing on the CBS soap later this spring. The good news for DAYS fans is that Flynn will still be appearing on the Salem-based soap for several months due to the show’s advanced filming schedule.

Meanwhile, Charles Shaughnessy, who was first introduced as ISA agent Shane Donovan back in 1984, resurfaces as Days of our Lives superspy Shane Donovan on Monday, March 17. Look for Deidre Hall’s Marlena and Stephen Nichols’ Steve to question Shane for information about the missing John on Tuesday, March 18. Shaughnessy also appears on Wednesday, March 19 opposite Emily O’Brien, who portrays his daughter, Theresa.

Tina Huang is back as former Salem district attorney Melinda Trask on Monday, March 17 in scenes with Tamara Braun’s Ava. She also appears on Friday, March 21 opposite Susan Seaforth Hayes’ Julie.

Ros Gentle continues her run as Rachel Blake this week. She’ll clash with Dan Feuerriegel’s EJ  on Friday, March 21.
