Major stars are returning, while a lead actress has been written off Days of our Lives.

There’s good news and bad news regarding the comings and goings at Days of our Lives. While four stars are returning, a popular actress is out. Find out who the performers are as well as if any other stars from yesteryear are boarding the show if any newcomers are joining the soap in contract, recurring, or day-player roles, or if any other of your favorite actors or actresses are leaving the Peacock drama.
The Week of April 7, 2025
After a long absence, Alison Sweeney is finally back for another story arc as Sami Brady. She appears in scenes with Martha Madison’s Belle, Carson Boatman’s Johnny and Dan Feuerriegel’s EJ on Thursday, April 10. Sweeney made her last appearance in December 2022.
Fan favorite Louise Sorel returns for another run as the incorrigible Vivian Alamain too. The actress makes her first appearance on Friday, April 11. Once again the character resurfaces to Salem to claim what is rightfully hers. Sorel last aired in 2024.
Kyle Lowder pops in for a new stint as Rex Brady on Thursday, April 10. He shares scenes with his TV mom, Lauren Koslow’s Kate. He also airs on Friday, April 11, in scenes with his TV dad, Josh Taylor’s Roman. Lowder was last on the soap in 2023
A key member of a key Salem family is also returning to the fold. Thaao Penghlis is headed back to the soap as Tony DiMera. Penghlis, who debuted as Count Antony back in 1981, has been off the canvas since June of 2023. Look for the character to finally be resurfacing later this year.
Tina Huang continues to get more airtime as Melinda Trask. On Wednesday, April 9, she shared scenes with Stacy Haiduk’s Kristen and Cherie Jimenez’s Gabi.
Tamara Braun has wrapped up her run as Ava Vitali. The actress, who made her final appearance on April 3, confirmed the news on Instagram. “I wish this was an April Fool’s Joke, but it’s not. This is Ava’s last week on Days.” The character moved to Hong Kong to be with her son, Tripp (Lucas Adams). Braun has played Ava on and off, dating back to 2008. As always, the door has been left open for her return at a later date.
