Jonathan Jackson Celebrates Big Milestone While Returning as Lucky Spencer on General Hospital

General Hospital fans were overjoyed last August when Emmy-winning actor Jonathan Jackson made his long-awaited return as Lucky Spencer, one of Port Charles’ most beloved characters. His comeback in August 2024 has reignited hopes that Lucky may finally reconnect with his former love Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), setting the stage for fresh storylines in the months ahead.

But while Lucky Spencer’s fictional world grows more complicated, Jackson himself has been busy with meaningful projects offscreen—most recently highlighting an event close to his heart.

Supporting a Cause Close to Home

In a warm video message posted to social media, Jackson announced the return of the Gory Night Run, a charity event benefiting the North Wexford Hospice in Ireland.

“Hey everybody, I just wanted to let you know that the Gory Night Run is back and it is in its 10th year, which is absolutely amazing,” Jackson said with evident enthusiasm. “As always, the proceeds for this will go to the North Wexford Hospice… We are with you in spirit, and I know it’s going to be a beautiful event.”

The run is scheduled for February 20 at 7:30 p.m., and Jackson encouraged supporters to visit paparapraces.ie to sign up. He closed the video with a heartfelt, “Much love, God bless. It’s going to be amazing.”

Fans Show Their Love

Unsurprisingly, the actor’s post drew an outpouring of affection from fans who admire not only his performances but his generosity.

User @Buouie321 commented, “Love you Jonathan. It’s always great to see the good works you accomplish and your support for those in need.” Another viewer, @Tipper2015, chimed in with a touch of humor: “Good luck to all—hope you break the bank!”

One fan, @Sarahhardy, shared a sweet moment of realization:

“I spent five minutes thinking why does he look so familiar? Then it hit me—oh my god, that’s Jesse Tuck!”

The comment referred to Jackson’s memorable role in the 2002 fantasy film Tuck Everlasting, where he played Jesse, a young man from an immortal family—a performance many viewers still cherish.

A Career That Keeps Evolving

Beyond Tuck Everlasting and General Hospital, fans fondly remember Jackson’s work as Avery Barkley on Nashville, where he showcased his talents as both an actor and musician.

One admirer, @MargaretTinselo, wrote:

“Jonathan, you are so good on GH. I also loved you on Nashville. You are so talented—stay well, big fan.”

Another follower, @Thompson6930, echoed the sentiment:

“You are such an amazing actor and human. I love everything you do.”

Looking Ahead

As General Hospital continues to explore new stories for Lucky Spencer, viewers are hopeful that Jackson’s return marks a lasting chapter in the character’s legacy. Meanwhile, Jackson’s efforts to give back—whether in Port Charles or real life—continue to remind fans why they’ve supported him for decades.

With heart, talent, and compassion in equal measure, Jonathan Jackson proves that some stars shine just as brightly offscreen as they do on it.
