Gabi is finally out of prison and stirring up drama on Days of Our Lives, with Cherie Jimenez taking over the role that Camila Banus vacated last year after playing the fiery businesswoman for 13 years. Jimenez has most definitely hit the ground running, and now we’ve learned that Banus hasn’t slowed down since leaving Days of Our Lives either!

Back when she first exited, Gabi’s former portrayer shared how her father’s death impacted her decision to leave the Peacock sudser to reach for her dreams, create new characters and art and appear on the big screen. And it sounds like she’s already on her way as just this week, we got word that Banus will be appearing in a new film, Cake, written and directed by Erik Juarez.

He explains the premise of the film by writing that, “A devoted single mother strives to create the perfect birthday for her son but must overcome a series of misadventures, including financial constraints and her own high expectations.” And apparently, it’s based on his 7th birthday! Banus, of course, was quick to chime in on the comments, writing, “I am so thrilled! Can’t wait!”

It’s still early days, so details are scant, but  Chicago Fire fans are in for a couple special treats as both Charlie Bennett (who played Peter Mills) and Joe Miñoso (who plays Joe Cruz) are in the film — along with Fear the Walking Dead alum, Lisandra Tena.
